A plumbing leak inside the wall in a Palm Harbor Florida home led to water damage. The plumbing waste arm or drain line inside of the block wall of this Palm Harbor home was made out of cast iron. Over time the cast iron began to rot out or deteriorate inside the concrete block wall. Cast iron is not used in plumbing systems any longer as it has been replaced with a newer type of PVC plastic pipe. The PVC plastic pipe over time will not deteriorate as quickly as the cast iron plumbing pipe. The water damage began very slowly as the leak was only a drip every time the sink was run. After several weeks / months the water built up inside of the block wall and showed up underneath the kitchen cabinets. The cabinets act as a sponge for water damage and soak up all the water. With the high humidity here in Florida, water soaked cabinets can be a magnet for mold growth. We arrived on site to properly dry the damage caused by the water leak.
